LONDON, CMC – Former West Indies seamer Corey Collymore’s four-wicket haul helped Middlesex limit Durham to 259 all out on the opening day of their County Championship match here yesterday.
The right-armer, who played 30 Tests, picked up four for 61 to lead the visitors’ attack as Durham were dismissed 259 after being sent in at Chester-le-Street.
At the close, Middlesex were struggling at 11 for two.
The 35-year-old Collymore, who has had an encouraging start to the season, accounted for both openers Keaton Jennings (38) and Mark Stoneman (5), before returning to help wrap up the Durham innings by removing Callum Thorp (4) and Mark Wood (0) in consecutive deliveries with the new ball.
Phil Mustard hit 62 and Scott Borthwick, 52.
Former Jamaica and West Indies all-rounder Gareth Breese made nine.
At Horsham, Barbados all-rounder Chris Jordan had a mixed day as his Sussex took honours over Somerset.
The right-arm seamer claimed two for 32 to help bundle out Somerset for a paltry 76, with veteran fast bowler Steven Magoffin picking up career-best figures of eight for 20.
Jordan, who hit his highest first class score of 92 against Derbyshire a week ago, was then removed without scoring as Sussex reached 298 for nine at the close.
Rory Hamilton-Brown has top scored with 77.
