Guyana’s Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ramnaresh Sarwan have been classified as Elite players ahead of next month’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL) draft.
Other players such as Christopher Barnwell, Leon Johnson, Veerasammy Permaul and Stephen Jacobs are among the pool of West Indies B players for the June 5th draft.
A number of other Guyanese players are also in contention to be snapped up by the different franchises when the tournament begins on the 30th July.
A total of six teams from across the Caribbean including Barbados, Antigua, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, St Lucia and Jamaica will feature in intense 20/20 battle.
Batsmen such as Johnson, Barnwell, Sewnarine Chattergoon and Narsingh Deonarine along with senior players such as Chanderpaul and Sarwan have experience in this format and will be key players for any franchise they are drafted into.
Some of the local bowlers pooled include the likes of former West Indies leg spinner Devendra Bishoo; break out fast bowler Ronsford Beaton and current National skipper Veerasammy Permaul.
Other Guyanese National players that are vying for selection are all rounder Zaheer Mohamed, wicketkeeper Anthony Bramble, Opener Trevon Griffith, batsman Chanderpaul Hemraj, fast bowler Keon Joseph, all rounder Clinton Pestano and others.
A host of current and international stars will feature as franchise players these cricketers include ; former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist, his former skipper Ricky Ponting, South African Hershelle Gibbs, Pakistan T20 captain Mohamed Hafeez are a few big name to come to the Caribbean shores.
The West Indies will also have their own franchise players which include star T20 names such as Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Marlon Samuels Sunil Narine and former West Indies Skipper Darren Sammy.
