The South Turkeyen Sports Committee’s five-a-side football competition which was scheduled to commence today at the National Cultural Centre (NCC) tarmac, Mandela Avenue has been rescheduled for this Sunday at the Burnham Basketball Hard-court, Carmichael Street.
Organized by Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell and Kevin Walcott, the competition which will begin at 9:30am is expected to attract established teams from Tiger Bay, Sophia, Alberttown, East Ruimveldt, Vryheid’s Lust and Enterprise among others.
Trophies donated by Minster of Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr. Frank Anthony and Trophy Stall Bourda will be given to the respective winners while cash prizes from Prime Minster Samuel Hinds, Ken Phillips of Antarctic Maintenance and Repairs, Giftland Office Max Marketing Manager Compton Bobb, Attorney-at-law and APNU Member of Parliament Joe Harmon, GFF President Christopher Matthias and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Robert Persaud among others will also be up for grabs.
