Fix the road and shorten the journey: Regional Vice Chairman, Region Ten, Byron Lewis points to one of the many bad patches on the 36-mile road between Linden and Ituni. Lewis said $266 million were squandered in a poor attempt to repair the road. In the current rainy season, the road between Linden and Ituni provides an incessantly bumpy two-hour journey, while the portion of road between Ituni and the Kwakwani Crossing is a smooth 40 to 45-minute drive.
According to driver, Stanwyck Bailey, although it is a dirt road, if the portion between Linden and Ituni is fixed, it would take about 45 minutes either way, which would substantially cut the time between Linden and the Kwakwani Crossing to about an hour and a half instead of the almost three hours it currently takes.
