Guyana School of Agriculture led by a Emmanuel Archibald’s 13 points defeated hosts Marian Academy in a U20 encounter 20-15 as action in the Youth Basketball Guyana’s (YBG) National School Basketball Festival (NSBF) continued at the Marian Academy School Court, Carifesta Avenue yesterday.
Utilizing his exemplary control and his lateral agility, Archibald shot his way to a game high score as he drained two clutch three pointer daggers to upset the highly favoured Carifesta unit. Selvaughn Mosley led all Marian scorers with five points.
Nikkoloi Smith and Kendo Bowen scored seven and eight points respectively to power Plaisance Secondary to a hard fought 30-23 victory over Georgetown Technical Institute (GTI) in their U20 matchup. Darrel Williams scored 10 points for GTI.
In the final U20 matchup, Unity Guyana led by a Jonathon Pooran’s nine points defeated Charlestown Secondary 20-11.
On Saturday in the East Coast (Country) Conference, Plaisance Secondary U20’s overcame University of Guyana by a 32-24 score line. Nikkoloi Smith had an all round game as he registered 21 points, nine rebounds and four steals for the victors.
President’s College, led by their duo of Nyambikeie Bacchus and Shakeel Garnett crushed Guyana School of Agriculture 42-25 in an U20 fixture. Bacchus netted 14 points and collected 11 rebounds while Garnett scored 11 points and registered five rebounds.
In an U17 matchup, Plaisance Secondary went down to President’s College by a 17-36 points margin. Flexton Campbell netted 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a winning effort.
On Friday in the Ancient County (Berbice) Conference, JC Chandisingh Secondary defeated home side Port Mourant Training School in closely fought match up 30-28. Micheal King, Simon Fraser and Kevin Deolall each scored nine points for JC Chandisingh. Theron McCrae led Port Mourant with 14 points and eight rebounds.
