A Baramita, North West District man was yesterday remanded to prison after being charged with having 64 grammes of cannabis at the Ogle Airport on Wednesday.
Alex Scott age 19 pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking when it was read to him by Magistrate Suanna Lovell in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
The police prosecutor told the court that on the day in question the defendant was a passenger on a Trans Guyana aircraft when a search was conducted. During the search he said a black and white hair food bottle with the narcotics was found.
According to the prosecutor the defendant accepted ownership of it and had given the police a statement to that effect.
The case continues on June 4 at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court.
