Dear Editor,
Is the spat between David Dabydeen and Ruel Johnson over the Caribbean Press a strictly private one or can others join in? There seems to be righteousness (and prolixity) on both sides, but what cannot be doubted is that the Caribbean Press has saved for the nation many past (and some present) literary treasures.
We await the next great Guyanese novel gestated in Carmichael Street coffee houses and I am sure the CP will publish that with pleasure.
Time to call it a dishonourable draw chaps? Give us readers a break!
Yours faithfully,
John ‘Bill Cotton/Reform’ Mair
