(Barbados Nation) THE HEAD of the region’s top development financial institution, the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), has described as “propaganda” a letter circulating from within the bank that its recruitment of senior management staff was biased against Barbadians.
President of the CDB, Dr Warren Smith, said yesterday that the letter had no basis in fact and that Barbadians held 60 per cent of the permanent posts in the Wildey-based institution. He said of the 171 staffers, 103 were from Barbados, while 15 were Trinidadians and 11, including himself, were Jamaicans.
Smith noted also that of the ten senior management positions, Jamaicans held three – namely, president, director of human resources, and vice-president of corporate services – while two senior managers were from Trinidad and Tobago, two from Britain, and one each from Guyana, Belize and Barbados.
The lone Barbadian senior manager is director of information technology.
