Dear Editor,
There are two observations that do not bode well for Guyana:
1. The President’s attempt to divide and rule the opposition by meeting the APNU and AFC separately. I call on the AFC to stay away from any future meeting with the President if the Leader of the Opposition continues to compromise the struggle for good governance by having private bilateral meetings with the PPP. These acts by Mr David Granger totally disrespected the best political practice of having tripartite meetings or even better yet, a tripartite meeting with observers from civil society.
2. Junior Minister of Finance, Mr Juan Edghill told a contractors’ seminar that Guyana remains in good standing notwithstanding the fact there is no Public Procurement Commission in place. Says who? It is clear that the PPP continues to terribly misjudge the pent-up fury in the hearts of the ordinary people on the street and the growing grass-roots mobilization efforts to meet PPP inaction and lethargy.
Yours faithfully,
Christopher Samuels
