Tutorial High School male and female teams yesterday booked semi-final and final spots respectively in the Scotiabank/Pepsi Schools Football Tournament at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Tutorial’s male team defeated Schools of the Nations 3-1 in the opening match while the females crushed Christ Church Secondary 4-0 on the wet outfield.
Lyndon Dorway scored the opening goal for School of the Nations via a free kick in the 25th minute while Tutorial equalized one minute later through a Mikhail Forde goal.
Forde added his second goal in the 56th minute while Kelly Blue scored in the 69th minute with a long range shot just over the goalkeeper’s head.
Tutorial females scored three first half goals with Shaquana Hope netting in the fifth and 17th minutes while captain, Shekela Frazer scored two minutes later with an impressive long range shot from the 30-yard mark in the 19th minute.
Tutorial’s Nateifa Marville scored the fourth goal in the 45th minute.
In an earlier game, Lodge Secondary, defending male champs, as expected nailed North Georgetown Secondary 7-1.
Shemar Smith scored a hat-trick in the 18th, 47th and 50th minutes while Kevin Boters and Ryan Hackett netted two goals each in the first and 45th and seventh and 16th minutes respectively.
Bishops’ High School was unable to field a full team and was hammered 11-nil by Charlestown Secondary. Omari James netted seven goals in the third, 10th, 14th, 33rd, 37th, 41st and 48th minutes. He was assisted by Anthony Bartholomew, Jamal Mingo, Seon Thegg and Marvin Carter who netted in the fourth, eighth, 35th and 39th minutes respectively.
Today, defending champions, Lodge Secondary and Christ Church along with Tutorial High and Charlestown will battle to qualify for the final. Play gets underway from 11:30 at the same venue.
