The Berbice Football Association (BFA) U15 league which commenced on May 18 has been halted due to the inclement weather.
Grounds particularly have been either water logged or unfit for matches and only one fixture has been contested since the commencement of the tournament with Monedderlust defeating an eight man Rosignol United ‘B’ side 10-0 in that fixture.
The tournament has been organized with the intention of fielding an U15 team to compete in the Inter-Association competition.
Currently, Lennox Amsterdam has been appointed coach by the BFA and a manager is expected to be identified shortly. A provisional 24-member squad will be shortlisted for the U15’s by June 7.
The event’s competing teams from the East Berbice zone are Corriverton Lynx FC, Cougars FC, Hope FC and New Amsterdam United FC. In the West Berbice zone the teams are Rosignol United FC (Bazilio), Rosignol United FC ‘B’, Monedderlust / Number #5 and Paradise FC.
Preparations for an U20 competition by the BFA which will be run by Hope FC from New Amsterdam are also underway. That event is set to commence on July 3.
