To help combat iron deficiency anaemia, the Food Policy Division of the Ministry of Health will hold anaemia education sessions at the Vreed-en-Hoop Secondary School, West bank Demerara, Region 3, today from 10 am to 1 pm.
A release from the ministry said that the sessions will target some 139 Grades 9 and 10 adolescent students to educate them about this nutritional disorder which is a major public health problem.
Activities will include health talks on iron deficiency anaemia; short quizzes on the content of the talks and distribution of stationery prizes; distribution of anaemia education material and tasting of low-cost, iron rich foods and beverages.
