Hopetown resident Carol Joseph, along with James Robertson and a contractor, Egbert McPherson took the initiative after noticing that the paint was fading.

They also painted the double yellow lines with reflective paint as well as the stop sign in front of the Fort Wellington Hospital.

Joseph, a regional councillor, said the yellow lines are important for guiding drivers when they use the road at night. She called on the authorities to brighten them as well.

She also said that there should be signs close to the crossings to alert drivers that they have to stop. In many cases, drivers tend to ignore pedestrians waiting at the crossings and keep on driving.
