Guyana yesterday signed the Arms Trade Treaty

Guyana yesterday signed the Arms Trade Treaty as the world seeks to put an end to international weapons transfer. With the agreement signed, weapons and ammunition should only cross borders after the exporter confirms that the transfer is compliant with internationally agreed standards. The agreement seeks to deter excessive and destabilising arms flows in conflict prone regions of the world and will it harder for weapons to be diverted to the illicit market.
