The Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) has officially suspended all ongoing competitions until the end of the current May/June rainy period.
This was confirmed by officials of the GCA yesterday.
The unpredictable weather constantly interrupted fixtures for the New Building Society (NBS) limited overs second division competition and, as a result, the GCA decided to place all activities on hold until the weather is more conducive to outdoor play.
The U15 Brainstreet tournament was recently pushed back to the July/August period due to similar circumstances.
The NBS one day tournament, which was launched in April, managed to get games underway at various grounds around Georgetown, with matches scheduled to be played on weekends but the inclement weather caused grounds around the city to be waterlogged resulting in postponed or abandoned matches.
The last match played on Monday last, saw the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) defeating Everest Cricket Club by four wickets.
Organisers have not yet designated a specified date for the recommencing of this tournament, but sources from within the GCA indicated that it will definitely be during the July /August summer period.
