Parabudyal Tarachand, called Ramesh, 34, of 67 High Reef Albion, appeared before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo in the New Amsterdam court yesterday charged with murdering his wife, Geeta Bissoondyal.
Tarachand was not required to plead to the charge of murder allegedly committed on June 2.
Attorney at law Mursaline Bacchus entered an appearance for the defendant and the matter was transferred to the Albion Magistrate’s Court for report and fixture on June 18th 2013.
It was reported that on the day in question, Bissoondyal’s lifeless body was discovered by her sister Vashti and a man by the name of Luke.
Her husband was then allegedly caught in the act of attempting to commit suicide.
A post-mortem examination on the woman by pathologist Dr Vivekanand Brijmohan revealed that she died of manual strangulation.
The woman is survived by her three children Nickhail 6, Brianna 3, and one-year-old Jaden, along with her siblings and parents.
The couple’s children are in the custody of their grandparents.
Bissoondyal is expected to be laid to rest tomorrow.
