O’Jeer quits from Berbice football

Berbice Football Association (BFA) President and Guyana Football Federation (GFF) executive committee member Keith O’Jeer officially resigned from his post as the BFA’s leader on May 31st, citing the increased burden from his GFF appointment as the reason for his decision.

O’Jeer who is also the head coach of Rosignol United FC during an interview via telephone stated “The duties acquired after being elected to the GFF and the increasing demand from my club has certainly influenced my decision.

“It would be physically impossible to effectively manage all three positions and honestly I would be doing an injustice to the association if I knew could not function properly”, added O’Jeer.

According to O’Jeer, BFA first Vice President Clay Slatts has become the BFA’s President (acting) and that he is more than willing to help and offer advice to the association in any manner.

Questioned about his intentions going forward, O’Jeer posited “My focus to a large degree is on doing my utmost to achieve and help implement the developmental plans of the GFF.

Of course I will still be actively involved in Berbice football through my club but just not from the front.

“The transitional period has been smooth and I have full confidence in the people that will be running the show”, said O’Jeer.

In an invited comment BFA President (acting) Slatts declared that the former President has been assisting and lending his support and that under his tenure the goal will be to raise the standard of football in Berbice while trying to have the association acquire its own ground.

“The plan is to have the association financially viable while focusing on player and administrative development”, added Slatts.
