Training for law enforcement officers was the main focus of the bilateral meetings that Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee had at the 30th International Drug Enforcement Conference in Moscow, Russia.
A follow-up release issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs said that Rohee along with Deputy Commissioner (Law Enforcement) of the Guyana Police Force Seelall Persaud and the Head of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit James Singh continued bilateral exchanges with the delegations from Netherlands and India and also had a second meeting with officials of the Russian Federation.
At the meeting with the Russian Federation, officials they met with the Colonel General of the Police, the Deputy Director of the Federal Drug Control Service and the Chief Executive of the Operational Investigative Department.
They signed a ‘Plan of Action’ to facilitate further training and the sharing of information in relation to investigations and operations.
The Netherlands delegation discussed intelligence sharing, training opportunities and capacity building for law enforcement officers.
The delegation from India offered training in counter-narcotics and technology. It was agreed that a Memorandum of Understanding would be signed to formalise the cooperation between the respective law enforcement agencies.
