The Flying Ace Cycle Club’s 15th annual Aqua Water, 60-mile cycle road race gets underway today in Berbice.
Unlike previous years, the event is open to cyclists throughout Guyana and it is expected that the cream of the country’s cyclists will travel to Berbice to compete.
Dwight Holder and Marica Dick are the defending male and female champs.
The race will pedal off at 09:00 hrs from in front of Banks DIH New Amsterdam Branch and proceed to No43 Bridge on the Corentyne and then back to the place of origin.
A number of incentives are up for grabs in the event which will see the first six finishers, the top three juniors and female riders receiving prizes.
The top three finishers from the Flying Ace cycling club will be given special prizes while there will be eight sprint point prize on offer.
Officials of The beverage company are expected to be on hand to start the race and distribute the prizes at the end of the event.
Cyclists must ride in their club colours and produce their license or they will not be allowed to participate while cyclists who are unattached will only be allowed to ride in white tops.
