Ronald Burch-Smith is the new President of the Guyana Bar Association.
A press release from the association yesterday said that Burch-Smith and his executive were elected at the Bar Association’s Annual General Meeting held on May 31, 2013. Others elected to the Executive were: Vice Presidents Melinda Janki, a consultant to deCaires, Fitzpatrick and Karran and Sadie Amin who is in private practice and is also a prominent member of the Guyana Association of Women’s Lawyers.
The other officers elected were Treasurer, Ramona Rookhum, Secretary Christopher Ram and Assistant Secretary/Treasurer Mohamed R. Ali.
The release said that among the immediate plans of the new Executive are a series of monthly lectures for members of the profession. The first such lecture will be held on June 23.
