On May 5, 2013, Sunday Stabroek published in its Business Page an article containing an analysis by its columnist of the Financial Statements of Caribbean Container Inc. It was implied in that article that there may have been possible wrongdoing on the part of the Chairman of Caribbean Container, Mr Ronald Webster, in relation to the acquisition of his shareholding in the company, and possible contravention of the Companies Act and/or the Securities Industry Act. Stabroek News is now in receipt of correspondence showing that the basis of these implications is erroneous, and that the relevant disclosures were made in at least one Annual Report of the company concerning Mr Webster’s shareholding. The insinuation made in the article was therefore misguided, and Stabroek News retracts the statements made there, offering its unreserved apology to Mr Webster.
