Albion Cricket Club defeated Blairmont Community Centre by 108 runs while Port Mourant Karibee Rice whipped West Berbice by four wickets as the Berbice River Bridge 50-over-a-side first division knockout competition continued in Berbice last weekend.
Playing at Albion, the hosts won the toss and batted reaching 189 all out in 48.3 of the allotted 50 overs.
Jonathan Foo led the way with a composed 61 which included three boundaries receiving support from David Latchaya who made 32 while discarded West Indies leg spinner Devendra Bishoo chipped in with 28.
Bowling for Blairmont, Derek Narine Lalsa picked up 3 for 32 while Devindra Singh and Shabbir Baksh grabbed two wickets each.
Blairmont, in reply, were shot out for 81. Chris Patadin was the only player to offer resistance scoring 17.
Bishoo was the pick of the bowlers claiming 3 for 15 while Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai, Balchan Baldeo and Foo chipped in with two wickets each.
Over at Port Mourant ground, West Berbice won the toss and elected to bat.
The late arrival by the team officials saw the match reduced to 43 overs per side and West Berbice were skittled for a 113 in 31.2 overs. B. Nurse hit three fours in his top score of 30.
The bowling was wayward and contributed 29 extras which assisted West Berbice in reaching a three figure total.
Leg-spinner Troy Gonsalves grabbed 3 for 36 runs while former Essequibo senior left-arm spinner Robert Moore picked up 3 for 41. Medium pacer Yougnarine Harrinarine supported with two wickets.
In reply the hard hitting Andrew Lyght Jr., hammered a 38-ball 49 which included five boundaries and one maximum taking his team to 115 for 6 off 21 overs with 22 overs remaining.
Off spinner Steffon Adams snapped up 6 for 44 runs in a losing cause.
Both teams are through to the semi finals with Albion to host arch rivals Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets and Universal DVD Young Warriors to host Port Mourant Karibee Rice on dates to be announced, weather permitting.
