Two men were yesterday arraigned on weapons charges after they were allegedly found with an unlicensed revolver and ammunition in their possession when they were stopped by police.
It is alleged that Ragesh Hardeo and Shawn Phillips were in unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition without licences on June 15.
The two men, represented by attorney Euclin Gomes, denied the allegations.
Prosecutor Bharat Mangru told Magistrate Sueanna Lovell at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court that the men were proceeding on Go Slow Avenue, Tucville on a motorcycle when they were stopped by members of a police patrol, who conducted a search on them and the motorcycle.
Mangru said a .38 revolver with two matching live rounds of ammunition were found on the person of Phillips.
As a result, bail was granted to Hardeo while Phillips was remanded to prison.
The case will be called again on July 2.
