The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) at a meeting at the Anna Regina fire station boardroom on Tuesday donated 30 footballs, medals and three trophies to the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Essequibo Football Association (EFA).
Vice President of Technical and Tactical Development Ivan Persaud and GFF Executive Committee member Keith O’Jeer made the presentation on behalf of the federation.
The presentation was made as a means of assisting the association with its club development. One football was presented to each club with the promise of two more balls following the completion of their registration process with the EFA.
It was also agreed that the clubs would aim to complete their registration within the next two weeks and that the association would make plans to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) within approximately four weeks so that they can become full-fledged member of the GFF.
Furthermore it was noted that three clubs were already in the position to register with the EFA whilst a further three clubs only have a few minor documentation and steps to complete before becoming eligible to be registered.
The clubs present at this meeting were Bush Lot FC, Queenstown FC, Good Hope FC, New Opportunity Corps and Sports Club, Richmond FC, Henrietta United and Essequibo Technical Institute Sports Club.
President of the EFA IMC, Walter Joseph, said: “It was a very good gesture by the GFF. The representatives of the various clubs who were present saw the seriousness of the federation with regards to football development. A competition once the weather gets better will be forthcoming.”
O’Jeer in an invited comment stated: “Very encouraging and delighted to see so many clubs attending the IMC meeting. It leads me to believe that only in a few weeks Essequibo will become full-fledged member of the GFF.”
“I must congratulate the IMC in their achievement of getting so many clubs together in such a short period. I urge the clubs who have not gotten themselves sorted out, to take action and get registered,” added O’Jeer.
