Local and foreign speed demons will have to wait a bit longer to start their engines for the race meet which was scheduled for July 7 at the South Dakota Circuit because it has been postponed.
According to a source within the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) the postponement was due to the fact that the venue for the second leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championships (CMRC) is still pending.
The source said that CMRC executives are still undecided whether the second leg which is normally hosted by Barbados will be staged here at South Dakota or in Jamaica at Jamwest in September.
The Bushy Park Circuit in Barbados is under renovation which will not be completed by September.
Jamaica hosted the first leg of the CMRC last month at the Dover Raceway in St. Ann.
Stabroek Sport was also reliably informed that the race meet will perhaps drive off at the end of July.
Daredevils from Canada, the USA and Suriname have already confirmed their participation for the meet.
Racers will compete in the Group 4, Group 2, Super Bike and Go Kart categories.
