The Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment, Robert M. Persaud on behalf of the Chairman, Directors, Management and Staff of the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission has extended congratulations to the President of the Guyana Women Miners Organization (GWMO), Simona Broomes on her recent achievement on being awarded a Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Special Hero by United States of America Secretary of State John Kerry.
A statement today said that the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment and its regulatory agency in the Mining Sector the Guyana Geology Mines Commission recognize the GWMO’s efforts to reduce incidents of TIP and this award in recognition of the work undertaken is certainly a major step in the efforts to reduce trafficking in persons.
