BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – The Barbados government says it will honour Emmerson Boyce who captained Wigan Athletic to championship honours in the 2013 FA Cup in England.
Boyce, who was born in England to Barbadian parents, was expected to arrive here yesterday to launch his foundation for less fortunate children.
Sports Minister Stephen Lashley was due to host a reception in honour of the International Barbados footballer at the Hilton.
Boyce started his career at 19 years old but made his international debut at the age of 28.
His team, Wigan Athletic, beat Manchester City in the 2013 FA Cup finals.
