Dear Editor,
The University of Guyana issues are antique. All the woes that the University of Guyana Senior Staff Association (UGSSA) and the University of Guyana Workers’ Union (UGWU) are now making public were made public before by the University of Guyana Students’ Society (UGSS).
Editor, in 2009 and even more recently in 2011 UGSS forcefully shut down the Turkeyen Campus fighting for a more state-of-the-art institution, and all they ever received was one meeting with the then DVC, Dr Marlene Cox who promised to fix the issues. Today the issues still plague us.
What is shocking, Editor, is the known fact that UGSSA and UGWU refused in 2009 and 2011 to work with UGSS to completely shut down the campus, hence I wish to ask for clarity’s sake why only now. When boat gone a falls there is no turning back.
Yours faithfully,
