Team Guyana (Back Circle) suffered mixed fortunes on the opening night of the Guinness Caribbean Street Challenge as they recorded one win and one defeat in their opening two Group ‘A’ matches as the event officially commenced in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Friday.
In their opening encounter, Guyana was defeated by Trinidad and Tobago by a 1-0 score line.
However, Guyana would rebound in their second match-up as they defeated Antigua and Barbuda by 2-0 margin. Philip Rowley and Daniel Favourite were on target for Guyana in their victory.
Trinidad and Tobago lead the Group A with a maximum of six points followed by Guyana who are tied with St. Lucia on three points but possess a better goal average. Antigua and Barbuda is yet to score a point.
Dominica lead Group ‘B’ with the maximum six points followed by defending champions and hosts St. Vincent and the Grenadines who are tied with St. Kitts and Nevis with three points but possess the better goal average. Grenada is in the cellar position.
Guyana was down to play St. Lucia last evening (Saturday night) in their quest to advance to the semi-finals. The finals and third place playoff will take place this evening.
