Fruta Conquerors through goals on either side of half-time defeated Renaissance FC 3-1 as action in the Fruta Conquerors-sponsored U-13 league competition continued at the Tucville Community Centre Ground yesterday.
Billed as a clash of the heavyweights, Fruta Conquerors took the early lead through a Simeon Hackett penalty conversion in the fourth minute and duly converted sending the Renaissance custodian the wrong way as his effort careened off the inside of the right upright and nestled at the back of the net.
Renaissance equalized five minutes before half time from the penalty shot. Teon Vankenic would strike the equalizing effort in the 30th minute to send both sides in to half time locked at one apiece.
Vankenic would also send the Conquerors custodian the wrong way as he placed his right footed strike to bottom left corner.
Resuming physicality’s in second period, Conquerors would take the lead one again through a Jermaine Garrett header in the 59th minute from a cross from the right flank. The Tucville side would double their advantage one minute later through a Steve Stanton effort.
Receiving the ball from right flank, Stanton utilizing his deft touches evaded two defenders before slotting home his left footed strike to the lower left hand corner to seal the victory.
In the earlier encounter, Santos FC and Camptown FC played to a gritty 1-1 draw. Darron Niks gave Santos the early lead through a 40th minute strike. Camptown would eventually equalize proceedings from a Joshua Ferreira 50th minute effort.
