PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Trinidad and Tobago’s Olympic javelin gold medallist Keshorn Walcott reportedly escaped serious injury following a vehicular accident on Friday.
Walcott’s manager, Sean Roach, said that the athlete was heading to the Hasely Crawford Stadium when a car collided with his SUV which triggered another collision, according to the Trinidad Express newspaper.
Roach said Walcott did not sustain any injuries but out of an abundance of caution he was examined by his physiotherapist.
Media reports in Trinidad stated that Walcott will not contest the javelin event at the National Senior Track and Field Championships on Sunday.
Walcott won Olympic gold at the 2012 London Games, the second Trinidadian to achieve such a feat, following Hasely Crawford’s Olympic 100m gold at the 1976 Games in Montreal, Canada.
