Almost two months after an accident at Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara involving siblings Shane and Tulsidai Prahlad, and which claimed Shane’s life, his sister Tulsidai has recovered significantly from her injuries and has been released from the hospital, her mother said.
Seventeen-year-old Shane Prahlad took his last breath on April 24 and was laid to rest on April 28. He died as a result of a fractured skull, head injuries, haemorrhaging and a fractured spine his post-mortem examination revealed.
Tulsidai also sustained similar injuries, her mother Geeta Roberts said. Roberts added that her daughter is doing much better now, and is currently out of the country. Relatives said they are still trying to understand how the accident occurred.
A source had told this newspaper that the accident had occurred sometime after 12 am when the vehicle the siblings were travelling in collided with a car. But Roberts said she had learnt that her children were hit from behind by another car.
Roberts said the driver of that car was identified but no arrest was made by the police, even though her son had died. She also stated that she has learnt that the accused is a known character. Roberts had told this newspaper recently that the family is still trying to come to terms with what has happened and the passing of her son, who was her last child and was described as her baby

She said her daughter is an American citizen and had returned to Guyana shortly before the accident with her father, who passed away about two weeks before the tragedy. Tulsidai’s husband is also an American and her mother said that he too is trying to deal with the unfortunate incident.
The woman said she knew nothing could be done to bring her son back to life and when asked if she was not seeking justice, said, “God will do everything. I’m not taking justice into my own hands.”
