Two women charged separately with using abusive and threatening language to other women were yesterday released on self-bail.
At the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, it was alleged that on June 21, at Georgetown, Iana Byron used abusive language to Royda Bess. Byron, a hairdresser of 132 Orealla Street, South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the charge when she appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
Like Byron, Amanda Edwards also pleaded not guilty after she was arraigned on charges of assaulting and using threatening language to another woman.
Edwards, of Lot 7 West Ruimveldt Front Road, Georgetown denied that at Georgetown on June 17 she unlawfully assaulted Alicia Moses and used threatening language towards her. No further details of what transpired in both cases were related to the court, which opted to release each woman on her own recognisance in both cases after the prosecution offered no objections to bail.
Both Byron and Edwards were also placed on bonds to keep the peace pending the determination of their matters, which will be called again on July 29 in Court One.
