The Pepsi Sonics Basketball Club will host an Open five-a-side and three point shoot-out competition this weekend at the National Gymnasium.
The competition will run from June 29- July 1 and will commence at 10am and end at 6pm each day.
The participating clubs will be Pacesetters, Eagles, Ravens, Guyana Defence Force (GDF), Nets, Buxton United, Colts, Patriots, Panthers, Knights, Guardians, West Side Jammers and Pepsi Sonics.
Pepsi Sonics President Merle Casey during an invited comment stated: “We decided to run the tournament because of the hype surrounding the recent NBA finals and the fact that there is no basketball currently being played in Georgetown.
“The players are very anxious for the competition to begin because they want to show off their skills,” she added.
Participating clubs will be allowed to enter more than one team with the winning team set to receive $100,000 while the second and third place finishers will pocket $75,000 and $50,000 respectively.
