A man suspected to have been involved in the fatal torching of a Mahaicony miner has been arrested and according to Crime Chief Seelall Persaud investigators are seeking the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to proceed further.
Persaud yesterday disclosed to Stabroek News that the suspect in the murder of Elroy Sealey was arrested recently in the interior, based on information received.
On May 21, Sealey, 30, of Lot 45 Yorkshire Hall, was confronted by a man at “Chinee” Landing, Cuyuni, during which he was doused with gasoline and set on fire. He was admitted to the Georgetown Hospital where he succumbed two weeks later. Persaud also said that the police are looking for one other person in connection with the case. That person was previously interviewed by the police but was not arrested.
