Magistrate Fabayo Azore on Tuesday imposed a two-year suspended sentence on a 52-year-old man who was found guilty of fraudulently converting $360,000 worth of circumference pipes.
The charge against Hiran Narine is that on January 31, 2012, at Georgetown, being solely entrusted by Nazim Pashaw with six pieces of 20 feet 16” circumference pipes, valued $360,000 to sell and return the proceeds to the said Pashaw, he fraudulently converted same to his own use and benefit. In addition to the two-year suspended sentence, Narine agreed to repay to Pashaw the sum of $240,000 which he accepted. The case was heard in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
