The South Turkeyen Sports Committee (STSC) will host its Post-Fathers Day walk-a-thon and five-a-side football and penalty shoot-out competitions this weekend.
The walk-a-thon which was scheduled for June 15 at the Square of the Revolution will commence on Saturday from 6:00am from the same venue.
The finishing point will be the National Park, Thomas Lands and $200 will be collected for every mile covered. Proceeds from the event will go to eight elderly fathers from Sophia and Vryheid’s Lust and eight elderly blind fathers from the Blind Institute.
Hampers will be donated by Rick’s and Sari Agriculture Industries Limited.
The following day (Sunday) the five-a-side football and penalty shoot-out competition will begin at the National Cultural Center tarmac from 9:30am. Teams from East Bank, East Coast and Georgetown are expected to do battle.
Exhibition matches for the day include Queen’s College U20 versus Bishops’ U20 and Redeemer Primary U13 against Meadowbrook Football Team U13.
Trophies and cash prizes will be up for grabs.

West Indian Sports Complex has also contributed two size four balls to the tournament. The events are organized by Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell and Kevin Walcott.
