The week long beach volleyball clinic facilitated by the world body, the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball’s (FIVB), continued yesterday at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports ground (MCYS) with two-on-two elimination competition matches.
The competition, contested on a friendly basis, was aimed at assessing the players who, earlier in the week, were taught valuable lessons in setting and receiving, attacking and defending and playing to their strengths collectively and individually.
Venezuela’s FIVB Coach and facilitator, Mauro Hernandez worked along with the participants yesterday as they competed in the two-versus-two knockout competition.
This format of volleyball is played without a coach so players are required to be mentally prepared before matches, something that the coaches stressed on heavily.
Teams were assessed during the matches and the coaches pointed out at various intervals mistakes that were made or improvement in areas they deemed weak.
Hernandez noted that the clinic wad very successful and said that he relishes the fact that the students are not only coming out but are continuing to show their willingness to improve.
The clinic will end today and the facilitators have prepared an assessment examination for the participants,
Members of the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) along with their Venezuelan colleagues are set to close the clinic with a brief ceremony today.
