Newly-installed president of the Rotary Club of Demerara Osbert James has called for a renewed engagement by Rotarians to bring rotary service and values into their daily lives in order to boost the club’s impact in the community.
According to a press release from the club, James made this statement in his address at the installation ceremony held recently at the Pegasus Hotel. He also said that Rotary International president Ron Burton’s theme for this year “Engage Rotary, Change Lives” highlighted much of what Rotary Demerara has been doing in its 20 years of existence.
Rotary Demerara has over the years actively been involved in medical outreaches in Guyana’s hinterland and has provided infrastructural and other support to far-flung communities such as Kuru Kururu, Laluni, Muritaro Demerara River, St Cuthbert’s Mission and others.
James will be supported by a team including vice president Patrick DeGroot, Secretary Gillian Mohabeer and Treasurer Lance Hinds along with committee chairs.
