A Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD) electrician died on Sunday night after a taxi driver attempted to dislodge him from the bonnet of his car by driving into a pile of sand, according to relatives but the police said the man was struck down as he walked along the Good Hope Railway Embankment road.
Dead is Jagdeo Thakurdeen, 35. In a statement, police said that at about 9.55 pm on Sunday, Thakurdeen was struck down by a car as he was walking along the Good Hope Railway Embank-ment. He was taken to the George-town Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. “The driver abandoned the motor vehicle and fled the scene. He has not yet been arrested,” the police said, adding that investigations are in progress.
