Kingston Secondary edged newcomers Morgan Learning Institute by a 2-1 scoreline as action in the Digicel National U18 Secondary Schools Football Championships continued at the Campbellville Community Centre, ground on Tuesday.
Andell Hatton opened the scoring for the Barrack street side compliments of a sublime finish in the 12th minute.
Receiving the ball 22 yards from goal on the right side of the field, Hatton would give the Morgan Institute custodian no chance as he skilfully lobbed the ball into the top left hand corner of the net.
The game quickly opened up in the second period as Morgan Institute began to press forward looking for the equalizer.
They would eventually restore parity to proceedings as a beautifully placed cross from the left side of the field would find an unmarked Kevin James who easily slotted home in the 60th minute to bring the small gathering to its feet.
Locked at one apiece, Kingston would retake the lead five minutes later through a Vincent Thomas strike within the 18th yard box.
Latching onto a cross from the left side of the field, Thomas would capitalize as he clinically struck his right-foot effort to the bottom left hand corner of the goal.
However there would be a further twist in the tale as Morgan Institute would be awarded a penalty kick 10 minutes later following a reckless tackle by the Kingston shot stopper on forward Renaldo Dover.
Stepping up to take the ensuing spot kick, Dover would send the goalkeeper the wrong way only to strike the ball agonizingly wide to the right.
