An accident which occurred in Region One yesterday has left one man dead and several others injured.
Information reaching Stabroek News yesterday evening suggests that the men were heading towards Port Kaituma from the “backdam” mining area when the vehicle they were traveling in toppled in the vicinity of Matthew’s Ridge.
Stabroek News understands that one man lost his life in the accident while several others sustained injuries of varying severity.
One of the injured, said to be the brother of the deceased, sustained injuries so serious that he reportedly had to be air-dashed to the capital for medical treatment
Yesterday’s is the latest of several such accidents. Just two months ago, four persons died and several were injured after a truck overturned in Buck Hall, North West District. Additionally, Last December, nine persons were air-dashed to Georgetown to receive medical treatment after the truck they were travelling in overturned in Port Kaituma.
