The professional segment of the 28th edition of the Guyana Fight Night Pro Am card which was knocked out by a rainstorm last Saturday at the Uitvlugt ground, will box off tomorrow night at the newly refurbished Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH).
According to executives of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) and the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA)
the card will also include four amateur bouts as an added bonus.
The executives of the professional board also told this publication yesterday that patrons who have their ticket stubs for last Saturday night’s truncated event will be admitted to the CASH.
Tomorrow night’s five-fight pro segment will be headlined by Trinidad and Tobago-based Guyanese, Dexter Gonsalves (5-1, 2, 2 KOs) and Barbadian based Revlon Lake (6-8, 2, 1 KO) for the local junior lightweight title.
The undercard will feature debutants Laured ‘Nightmare’ Stewart and Romeo Norville. Stewart will take on Anson Green in a four-round welterweight fight while Norville will face Eversley Brown in a middleweight contest also scheduled for four rounds.
Troy Lewis (4-16, 1, 2 KOs) will also make his return to the ring; he will face the hard-hitting Berbician, Kelsey George in a four-round super middleweight rematch. Lewis defeated the Berbician in his debut bout in September 2011.
The amateur segment will pit Desmond Amsterdam against Colin Martin (light heavyweight), Kellon King will take on Anandram Dharamraj (junior welterweight), Trevon King will match gloves with Kevon Rodney (middleweight) and Stephon Gouveia will face 2011 Junior Sportsman of the Year, Imran ‘Magic’ Khan (lightweight).
Bell time is 20:00hrs and admission is $1000.
Last Saturday, torrential rain and heavy winds forced the organisers to postpone the professional segment of the outdoor event after the ring which was covered by a tent became waterlogged.
As a result, only the amateur segment of the card which included four punch-filled bouts was completed.
Travis Hubbard (118-125 pounds), Shaka Moore (105-109), Shaquille Wright (75-79) and Jaime Kellman were all in the winner’s row.
They defeated Quincy Boyce, Stephon Green, Shemar Bumbury and Quincy Wright respectively. All the bouts went to the judges’ score cards.
