BON ACCORD, Tobago, CMC- A die-hard half century by Shahid Crooks pulled Jamaica from the brink of defeat against Trinidad and Tobago in their third Round match of the Regional Under 17 tournament here on Thursday.
Crooks dug out a gutsy 59 runs from 120 balls to swing the game back in Jamaica’s favour allowing them to register a two wicket win over Trinidad.
The Jamaicans were always behind on the chase after the homeside posted 257 for six in 50 overs.
T and T appeared to be coasting to victory with Jamaica at one stage 177 for five with ten overs remaining.
But out came Crooks, who blasted three fours and four sixes in his unbeaten 59 to lead a late Jamaican surge.
In the last over, Jamaica needed eight runs for victory, and they got there with a ball to spare.
Earlier, opener Amir Jangoo scored a stroke-filled 81 that included seven fours and a six after T and T won the toss and took first knock.
Clevon Kalawan contributed 57 while Bryan Boodram played well for 35.
