Ticket sales for the upcoming West Indies/Pakistan fixtures commencing on July 14 and 16 at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, began yesterday at the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) office after technical difficulties over the last two days.
When Stabroek Sport visited the GCB late yesterday afternoon, persons were in the process of purchasing tickets as the cut-off time at the GCB had been extended due to the setback.
Officials from the GCB told this newspaper that sales are expected to pick up fully today as the problems which had caused the delay had been resolved yesterday.
The tournament kicks off on July 11, with a warm-up practice match between the Pakistanis and a squad chosen by the GCB selection panel, led by left arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul and includes players such as: Leon Johnson, Assad Fudadin, Christopher Barnwell, Trevon Griffith and Devendra Bishoo among other top national cricketers. The Pakistani team is scheduled to arrive in Guyana on Monday, July 8, after which they will engage in the practice match at the Guyana National Stadium, followed by two ODIs on Sunday July 14 and Tuesday July 16 at the same venue.
