The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment is hosting a workshop for Region Nine toshaos on Friday to discuss government policies related to the mining sector in that region.
According to a press release, Natural Resources Minister Robert Persaud had pledged to host the seminar at a meeting held in Aishalton, Region Nine on May 4. The objective of the workshop is to discuss government policies and environmental management in the mining sector in that region.
The workshop will also follow-up on issues discussed at Aishalton and will include presentations by the minister as well as related agencies such as the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission, the Guyana Forestry Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency, Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission, the Wildlife Division, Protected Areas Commission and the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs. The toshaos will be given an opportunity to engage these agencies on their presentations, the release said.
The workshop is set for Friday, July 12 at 9am at the St Ignatius Benab.
