The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport has planned several camps to be held in all ten Administrative Regions targeting 10,000 children on their two months vacation.
The camps will give the children the opportunity to participate in different educational and recreational activities.
A release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said that 3,000 of the children will participate in special sports camps. These camps will focus on physical education and sporting activities such as cricket, football, volleyball, swimming, and lawn tennis. They will provide an opportunity for some children to get involved in sports, and for those who are already involved, a chance to improve their skills.
GINA said that the museums also will be hosting campaigns and workshops for children to educate them about their history, ancestry and roots, and to allow them to explore and experience new cultures and traditions. The Walter Roth Museum of Anthropology’s summer camp package includes the teaching of indigenous languages.
Another area of focus is music and the Pan Minors Music Literacy programme will target a total of 175 children to introduce them to pan music.
GINA said that these camps promise to be exciting, educational and recreational, and are an ideal way for children to spend their vacation, experiencing new skills while having the opportunity of making new friends.
