Dear Editor,
What is the future for locally-based, aspiring track athletes? What will it take for a locally-based athlete to be considered for the Olympic Solidarity Fund?
As much as I would like to witness Miss Kadecia Baird being elevated to stardom on the international circuit, I still believe that she is better off in terms of a fruitful career to be in the bosom of the USA.
However, at this point, I wish her well for being considered for the Olympic Solidarity Fund by the Guyana Olympic Association. A wild guess at this point is that with this opportunity Guyana might have finally managed to hold on to her to represent the Golden Arrowhead at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. As an independent sports observer, I can only continue to hope that the locally-based track athletes are not neglected with their independent aspirations.
Yours faithfully,
T Pemberton
