The police say that the four persons who were believed missing after a mishap today in the Cuyuni River have been accounted for.
Earlier this afternoon, police had said that investigations were being conducted into a report that at about 1300h today a boat capsized in the vicinity of Matouk Falls, Cuyuni River, and four persons were missing. Police ranks went to the area to investigate following the report.
Four men died in May this year after their boat capsized at the same falls. The boat, Black Angel, had capsized after both of the engines failed and three persons—the boat captain, Junior Lyte, 19, of Batavia, Cuyuni and two passengers David Prass, 26, of New Amsterdam and Morris Hopkinson of Second Avenue, Bartica—managed to make it to shore.
The men who died were Shawn Robinson of New Amsterdam, William Patoir, of New Amsterdam, Junior Bandhu, of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo and Clive Welcome, 18, of Bartica.
