A Leonora mother of eight has been missing since July 6, according to her common-law husband.
Forty-year-old Urmilla Dabydeen, who left home for work around 7 am on July 6 wearing blue jeans, a black top and brown sandals, has not been seen since.
According to her partner Denroy Cumberbatch, they both reside at Lot 40 Wine Bush, Leonora, West Coast Demerara. He stated that after four unsuccessful days spent searching for his wife, he was advised by her relatives to make a report at the police station.
Cumberbatch claimed that a report was filed at the Leonora Police Station on July 10 and he was told that the information provided would be passed around to other police stations.
Cumberbatch stated that he made contact with his wife’s sister, who informed him that she had no knowledge of where Dabydeen might be.
Meanwhile, the missing woman’s sister told Stabroek News Cumberbatch telephoned her on July 7, stating that he needed to speak to her urgently about something important. She then visited Cumberbatch, who told her of her sister’s absence.
Dabydeen’s sister also stated that contacts made with her sister’s friends, other relatives and her workplace, proved unsuccessful, since no one knew where her sister was.
She said that her sister seemed to be quite happy when she last visited the home, but added that she is very concerned about her sister’s disappearance.
When asked if there were any incidents leading up Dabdeen’s disappearance, Cumberbatch stated, “we does use the same cellular phone and certain calls does come to her from a male, so I told her to leave the phone with me.” He further stated that no calls came from the male caller since his wife has gone missing.
